Yesterday was one of those day you think the weather is going to be one thing and turns out another ! Thinkin a little overcast and light winds were in store for Saturday, I woke to the sound of a steady rain. Long time customer Paul Rankin and I decided what the heck ya never know till ya go. Put 4 fish in the boat and missed a few and had some eats that the hooked missed the mark. Glad we went !! we had a good many fish tailing and cruising some of the clearest water ya ever have seen. I have not had much to post lately due to the weather, seems every day I get booked the winds been around 500mph and raining and cold, and snowing, and, and, and. Let’s hope winter is in the rearview mirror from here out and Tarpon will be here early this year.

Deep winter is upon us and the fish are feeling it. There are some beautiful schools of fish out there and the water is clear. That being said it would be nice to get a bit of a warm up. Yesterday while poling for some reds I saw some small trout laid up on the flats. When you see these little guys in the shallows you know the water is getting cold. These little guys are willing to take the chance of getting picked off by a osprey or pelican just to warm up a bit. The reds on the other hand are moving about and will eat flies and artificial ‘s , but you can tell they are not jumping out of their scales to eat. The tides are a bit off this week, and with another 5 days of super cold weather I will not be messing around out there. Hopefully next week with proper tides we will get a bit of a warming trend, Please !
