Can’t even describe how the past two days have been. Huge Schools of fish and not a boat in sight, Ya gotta like that !!! John Pain and his son Will put a straight up smack down on them yesterday and I didn’t take pics of every fish !
Remember friends don’t let friends buy Sage fly rods !!!
Long time customer Paul Rankin and I headed out to look for some happy critters, and the first place we stopped at, well that’s wha we found. We could have sat there and walked fish after fish, but after the 6th one we pulled the hook on that spot and decided to brave the wind and look at some other spots. This may sound strange, but sometimes you want to leave fish that are too eager to take the fly. It can become a bit boring. Paul and I have been banging it for a long time and it’s nice to have a customer like him that doesn’t want to beat a group of fish up to the point they won’t eat. We came across a couple of other spots that were loaded up w/ some fish, but the wind decided to really ramp up and started to muddy the water. One fish will certainly stand out in my mind. Poling along Paul and I look down and there’s a 15-20lbs Barnacle Bill slob of a red cruising 10 feet in front of the boat ! We didn’t get the eat, but we now know where he lives !
