The past week or 2 the reds at low water and high have been going nuts.  Low water the fish are charging the shrimp hard,  in groups of 3-5 fish flying down the flats with birds working over them. On the tailing tides we have been seeing a good number of reds tailing, with great succcess rate to boot.  Last sunday John Kennedy and his buddy nailed 5 fish  That’s great in the grass, the same night I talked to Jim Mercer and he had informed me they nailed 9 reds in the grass!!   The past few hurricanes passing by stirred the water enough to cool it a bit and the fish have taken advantage of this.  Speaking of hurricanes  Jim Cantore of the Weather channel really chafs my *#@  What a spank ! I think the guy finds any puddle with some wind and rain and blows it up in dramatic fasion.

Been so busy busting tarpon on the fly I haven’t spent to much time on the reds, but with the ocean lighting up from hurricane Danielle it’s back inshore. Steve L and I started off with clods and light winds and some nice shots at triple tail, had one hooked up on fly and he came unbuttoned.  Same thing with a nice red, Checked the hook, looked good.  Just bad luck I suppose.  After the wind picked up we began to struggle a bit.  Having a few shots but not hooking up we decided to head to a top secret location.  Holly!@#$  the fish were running up and down the bank busting baits!!  We managed 5 fish out of the flat and had a blast watching.  At one point we had groups of 5 to 10 fish all the way down the flat with their backs out of the water.  Skinny water fishing at it’s finest
