Good Bye March! Savannah, Hilton Head, Beaufort Fly fishing

What a pain in the ass month!  Cloudy light wind days with rain and sunny days with 30 mph winds.  Not a great combo.  This being said we have had some good days.  Finding fish tailing in the grass and cruising the mud flats looking for some goodies.  The trout bite from what I hear has disappeared , now after 2 years of trout kills due to cold winters, what has our DNR done   NOTHING!  what else would you expect.  Triple tail should be popping up real good with the warming trend and cobia will soon follow.  Than the king!! Tarpon should be showing in June.  This is a fly fishing gig, Sight casting and casting to big fish!  Can’t wait, it’s been a long cold winter>

When the winds and tides line up up we have been busting their butts! We have had some great days of low tide red fishing in the clear waters of Feb. The other day  a customer and I had seen this red tailing and spashing along a sanbar, we needed to go see what all the fuss was about. A nice red around 26 ” Had a 8 inch mullet pinned to the bar and was trying to get the head shot on him so he could finish him off. I told my guy I would let that guy be and let him enjoy his meal, and the beautiful day. There still is some spotty striper action to be had in the river, Some being caught in Port Wentworth bridge and down river as well.
