Dang ole wind

I just recently returned from the caribbean side of central America, the surf was unreal and a nice break from the cold can do the body good.  Upon my return  noticed that my camera had been stole!  Assholes!  Well I have a new camera now and can’t wait till I can start getting some shots.  The wind has been a major pain lately with some days as gusty as 30mph.  There has been a fair amount of stripers swimming round the area, but with this last blow it completely blew the river out.  I felt as though I was fishing in chocolate milk.  I recently had the chance top cast the new Hardy pro axis and the g loomis side by side side in the boat and the new Pro Axis was better feeling and casting rod.  If your in the market for new rod check the the new Hardy Pro Axis.  The triple tail will be showing up soon, it will be nice to chase something besides reds for a bit. Can’t wait till the water warms even more! This means Tarpon and major fun!!  This is fly fishing Apex!

Hilton Head Fly fishing

The winter fishing has been really good with the slight warming trend.   Schools in the Hilton Head and Broad river area are as large as I have seen. With 10-20 fish days and sometimes more on fly and spin.    Yesterday was one one of those days you dream about as a guide and angler, we had reds busting baits on the flats and taking poppers on the fly! Over the pasts 20 years of poling the area I can’t remember getting reds to come on on poppers so aggressively   Not much to report on the striper front.  I have been twice with no luck, we need a serious warming trend to get that bait higher in the water column and make the stripers a bit more accessible.  I will have plenty of pics to come, my computer is on the blink so I have been unable to get anything posted.
